Our canvas Swags are built tough and designed to last a lifetime. However they must be looked after to ensure that you get many years of use and enjoyment out of them.
Keeping your Swag free from Moisture
The most important thing to do when caring for your swag is to keep it dry and free from moisture when you are storing it. Moisture and mold will deteriorate the fabric and make your swag smell. It is important that after you have used your swag you let it air out before you pack it up, or if you need to pack it up immediately, you set it up again within 12 hours to let it dry it out. When you sleep in a swag on a cold night it is normal for there to be condensation on the inside of the swag. It's a good idea to keep the head of the swag slightly open for ventilation and this will reduce the condensation. We suggest in the morning that you move the swag into the sunlight and open up the swag, this will dry out the swag very quickly.
Avoid Using Chemicals to Clean Your Swag
Only use warm water and a cloth to clean your swag. It is very important that you do not use any chemicals, soaps, solvents or detergents on your swag as this can affect the canvas. Also if you do get any bird dropping on your swag it is a good idea to let it dry, then scrap it off.
Avoid Long Periods of Direct Sunlight
It is important that your swag is not left outside in the sun for long periods of time, if it is not in use. The UV rays from the sun over a long period of time can deteriorate the canvas and also fade the color of your swag. Keeping your swag set up during the day while you are camping is perfectly fine just be sure after your camping trip that you store your swag out of direct sunlight.
If you follow these few important items then your swag will last you for many years and you will be able to enjoy all of the great features and benefits that your swag has!
